1. United Arab Emirates: active assistance flights
The situation in the UAE represents the most serious logistical escalation on this list. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is currently operating official relief flights to Europe from both Abu Dhabi and Dubai.
The reality on the ground: Access to certain airports is now strictly limited to confirmed travelers. Do not go to the airport without a ticket. While the land borders with Oman and Saudi Arabia remain open, they are experiencing massive, heavy traffic congestion. All US government employees in the UAE have been ordered to shelter in place and all routine consular services have been suspended until further notice.

In addition, the embassy has issued strict travel restrictions for U.S. government officials regarding Musandam Governorate and Masirah Island. Finally, all recreational maritime activities greater than 25 kilometers from the coast are strictly prohibited.

3. Malaysia: strict legal warnings
Spillover demonstrations related to developments in the Middle East are quickly organizing in Southeast Asia. Planned and spontaneous protests are expected today, March 12, and tomorrow, March 13, near the US Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, starting at 1:00 PM local time.
The reality on the ground: Local authorities are expected to significantly increase security presence, implement road closures and restrict traffic in the capital.
