WestJet has recently released a statement highlighting the carrier’s move to increase the number of flights this winter.
The Canadian carrier is looking to increase the number of flights available to travelers this winter from Vancouver to multiple destinations in Mexico.
Some of the routes that have been added include, Huatulco, Mazatlan, and Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo. Popular tourist destinations like Puerto Vallarta, Los Cabos, and Cancun are also expected to get additional flights for those departing from Vancouver International Airport.
According to Chris Avery, the Vice-President of WestJet, the company is excited to provide travelers with more flights to popular Mexican destinations beginning this winter. WestJet expects that the addition of new flights will result in a capacity increase of approximately fourteen percent.
Travelers will be allowed to fly from Abbotsford International Airport to Mexican cities like San Jose del Cabo and Puerto Vallarta. Canadians will get an opportunity to travel to some of the popular Mexican destinations which receive an influx of new visitors during the winter period.
At the end of the previous winter seasons, approximately 3.6 million global tourists visited Mexico making it a popular destination for visitors from the United States and Canada. Compared to the previous winter season, the number of international visitors in Mexico increased by approximately 135.3%.
The increase in the number of flights by WestJet is a strategy that the airline seeks to use to provide travelers with affordable opportunities to visit their favorite destinations. The company expects the average day-to-day departures to rise to eight-five during the coming winter season; this will be the highest daily departures of any Canadian carrier.
Mexico is considered one of the most admired sun holiday destinations during the winter season for Canadians looking to escape the cold winter weather. From 5th December, WestJet expects to provide travelers with two flights weekly to Puerto Vallarta; from 4th December, weekly flights will be available to those traveling to San Jose del Cabo.
