The hotels in Playa del Carmen are almost fully booked for the winter season, with an occupancy rate of up to 95%. Small hotels have already increased their figures to 70%, while in previous months they only reached 50%.
“The trend is upward and we hope that the small hotels on Fifth Avenue and 10th Street can also reach 90%,” said Carlos Jiménez, the municipality’s director of tourism promotion, according to Noticaribe.
He pointed out that American travelers come first in bookings. However, the number of domestic tourists from Campeche, Yucatán and Quintana Roo has been increasing recently.
