Southeast Asia continues to amaze travelers with its endless wonders. Regardless of the country, this region of the world is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful.
In addition to beautiful locations, travelers often find themselves exploring, indulging in the cultural side of the spectrum, enjoying phenomenal food and historic sites, and visiting places that are simply not available at home.
It’s no surprise that one country stands out the most and packs a punch for every type of traveler, with everything from rural elephant sanctuaries to otherworldly beaches and bustling cities to explore.
Thailand is a year-round playground and laundry just mentioned the best country in the world to visit.
Who doesn’t love Bangkok?
Forget The Hangover Part IIa very poor representation of Bangkok.
The facts are the facts and the numbers show that this incredible city is one of Americans’ favorite summer destinations.
But even then, we’re selling Bangkok short, as there’s actually no bad time to visit. Always busy, always something exciting to do and new to see.
Perhaps its biggest appeal is its value. How much you can do on a budget is incredible, which is why digital nomads like to base themselves here.
From floating markets and breathtaking temples to unparalleled nightlife, there’s no clear comparison to Bangkok.
And tell the wise: If you’re wandering the busy streets and think someone is challenging you to play ping-pong, just know that it’s probably not the game you’re looking for…
The beaches are out of this world
While it is undoubtedly easier for many travelers to book a beach vacation in Mexico or the Caribbean, if you can manage it, Thailand is the place to be.
From breathtaking coastlines to even more eye-catching islands, travelers may have to spend money on plane tickets but can spend the rest of their trip in paradise on a budget.
Rarely do you hear that Thailand is too expensive and this idea also applies to all the incredible beaches you visit.
Right now, travelers have their sights set on the beautiful island of Koh Samui, the country’s trendiest beach destination.
On the other hand, there are other islands and classic destinations like Phuket that never disappoint with a laid-back beach atmosphere during the day and a mecca for nightlife after sunset.
Experiences like no other
Chances are you’ve had Thai food even in the US, but that’s as close as you can get without setting foot in Thailand itself.
When was the last time you were able to drive home through a ‘floating market’? Never! It does not exist.
This country offers some incredible experiences, not only from floating markets, but also from famous night markets, which are spread all over the country.
Many travelers fly to Bangkok as their gateway to Thailand, but this isn’t the only place to experience the country’s culture.
Bangkok is great and all, but travelers love other cities like Chiang Mai where travelers can explore beautiful temples and busy markets and you know you have to take a ride tuk tuk at least once.
And then there’s the countryside, which can easily be overshadowed by the lure of action-packed city life.
One of my favorite experiences in Thailand was visiting an elephant sanctuary where you can feed, wash and play with these gentle giants living their best life after years of abuse.
A sensational, world-famous foodie destination
Visiting Thailand without trying new food is hard to fathom.
Of course, we’re not talking about the gimmicky, overhyped appeal of eating a cobra heart – that’s not exactly what the locals serve.
From the cheap $1 street noodles and fresh catches at local markets to high-end restaurants, your taste buds are sure to explode with all the savory dishes.
Food is often one of the best ways to literally get a taste of the culture and there aren’t many more cultural destinations than Thailand.
Bangkok’s Chinatown district alone seems like its own world.
