Looking for the perfect summer vacation?
These three European beach destinations are currently popular with travelers and are setting tourism records.
Now is the perfect time to plan a summer vacation to Europe.
Personally, I recommend going in early September because the summer crowds have disappeared, but you can still enjoy the warm weather and beaches at this time of year.
If you’re looking for inspiration on where to go, these are some of the trendiest destinations in Europe with beautiful beaches to visit this year.
Antalya, Turkey
Antalya is one of the most popular beach destinations of the summer.
Located on the Mediterranean Sea, Antalya is a Turkish seaside resort on the country’s famous turquoise coast.
With beautiful beaches and shockingly affordable prices, it’s no wonder Antalya is setting all-time tourism records.
In 2023, more than 15 million tourists visited Antalya, and this number is expected to only grow in 2024.
This is also a great destination for history, culture, food and nightlife. Antalya is a lively, vibrant city and there is always a lot to do.
When it comes to accommodation, you’ll find everything from luxurious all-inclusive resorts to cheap budget hotels, so a trip here can cost as much or as little as you want.
For digital nomads, Antalya is also a great place to live (you can easily spend less than $2,000 per month here) and Turkïye recently launched a digital nomad visa, making it easier to stay here long-term and work remotely.
Valencia, Spain
Another one of the best European beach destinations this year is Valencia, Spain.
When you think of beaches in Spain, you might first think of the islands of Ibiza and Mallorca or the sunny southern Costa del Sol. Valencia is still a bit of an underrated destination.
But this beautiful coastal destination is becoming increasingly popular, with a 29% increase in tourist numbers so far in 2024 compared to last year.
It is the third largest city in Spain, after Madrid and Barcelona, so there is never a dull moment in Valencia.
The city is known for its mix of historic and modern architecture, vibrant festival culture and delicious food – especially fresh seafood and paella!
The city is located right on the coast, so you don’t have to go far to find great beaches – and as far as I’m concerned, Valencia’s city beaches are too. So much better than the one in Barcelona.
It is also a fairly affordable destination, cheaper than many other places in Spain. And for digital nomads, Valencia is also one of the best Mediterranean cities to live and work in.
Sliema, Malta
After all, Sliema is one of the most popular beach destinations in Europe this summer.
Sliema, located on the small Mediterranean island of Malta, is one of the country’s top beach destinations and is only growing in popularity.
Malta welcomed a record 3 million tourists in 2023, and this number is only expected to increase this year as more and more travelers discover this beautiful island.
Sliema is the perfect place to stay as you have easy access to beautiful beaches and you are only a 12 minute ferry ride from Valletta, the beautiful and historic capital of Malta.
Malta is a very small country, so I highly recommend exploring the rest of the island while you’re there. A tour to the smaller islands of Gozo and Comino in particular is a must. Or go to Malta’s famous Blue Grotto or the unique Popeye Village.
And good news for digital nomads: Malta also offers a digital nomad visa and it is a relatively affordable place to live if you dream of having a base in the Mediterranean.
