WestJet Airlines, the second largest Canadian airline, has given permission two new winter routes to the seaside resort of Tulum, Mexico.
This move will make WestJet Group the largest Canadian flight provider to solar hotspots in winter 2024.
“We continue to offer the most robust and affordable coast-to-coast schedule tailored to the needs of Canadian travelers,” said John Weatherill, Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer of WestJet Group.
The new flights will depart from Calgary and Toronto to Tulum Felipe Carillo International Airport (TQO) starting November 9, 2024. The service will be available until April 27, 2025.
To make its offer even more attractive, the airline also decided to offer packages to 35 resorts near Tulum airport.

The airline will also expand its network in Grenada and Fort Lauderdale, from Vancouver and Winnipeg.
Jorge Molina, General Director of Tourism and Economy of the Tulum City Council, celebrated the airline’s decision to expand its portfolio to Tulum, explaining that the municipality is becoming one of the most sought-after destinations among Canadian, American, Central -Oriental and European Travellers.
“Calgary and Toronto residents are traditionally high spenders who travel [to the Caribbean] because of his [privileged] weather conditions. So we must welcome this new airline that starts its operations in Tulum,” Molina said.
“The Canadian market is positive for the diversification of tourism,” he added.
Since opening on December 1, 2023, Tulum International Airport has received 210 flights, including 120 from other countries.
