Cardi B Embraces Transparency Regarding Cosmetic Procedures
Cardi B is open about discussing her recent cosmetic enhancements, particularly addressing speculation about her buttocks. In a recent Instagram Live session, the singer responded to fans suggesting she reduce the size of her backside. She confirmed that she had indeed undergone a procedure to reduce her buttocks, explaining that she opted for surgery to address previous injections in early 2024. However, she expressed hesitation about getting liposuction due to concerns about “loose skin” resulting from the procedure.
According to Mayo Clinic, liposuction is a surgical method used to eliminate fat from specific areas of the body. The clinic warns that individuals with thin or non-elastic skin may experience loose or uneven skin following the procedure, a risk that Cardi B is mindful of. She emphasized her current satisfaction with her body and her reluctance to undergo a lengthy recovery process, stating, “I like my body how it looks right now. I’m comfortable in my skin.”
Despite her cosmetic enhancements, Cardi B has been vocal about not equating surgery with low self-esteem or self-hatred. In a 2024 interview with Jason Lee on Hollywood Unlocked, she refuted assumptions that undergoing surgical procedures reflects insecurity, emphasizing that this is not the case.

While Cardi B acknowledges her preference for perfection, she has also shared personal experiences of feeling insecure about her body, especially during her formative years. In a 2021 interview with Interview Magazine, she reflected on feeling “ugly” due to body shaming from peers during her adolescence. Her journey to confidence involved surgical enhancements, such as breast augmentation and buttock augmentation, to address her insecurities and boost her self-esteem.
Despite her support for cosmetic procedures for those who desire them, Cardi B has highlighted the challenges and realities of undergoing such treatments. In a 2019 interview with Entertainment Tonight, she emphasized the arduous process of recovery post-surgery, likening it to the physical changes experienced after childbirth. She emphasized the misconception that cosmetic procedures are effortless, shedding light on the demanding nature of the recovery process.
