Suri Noelle Approves of Katie Holmes’ New Boyfriend
It is commonly assumed that the protective instinct flows from parent to child, but sometimes, it works the other way around. Suri Noelle, the 20-year-old daughter of Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise, is known to be very protective of her mother.
In July 2026, Hollywood insider Rob Shuter revealed details about Holmes’ new romance with artist Jason Bard Yarmosky and how Suri feels about it. Fortunately, Suri has given her blessing to the relationship.
An insider revealed to Naughty But Nice that Suri took an instant liking to Yarmosky. “She’s incredibly protective of her mom, but above all, she wants to see Katie happy. That meant everything to Katie.”
According to friends of the Dawson’s Creek star, Holmes has a strict rule when it comes to dating: if Suri is not comfortable, the relationship ends. “Let’s face it—if Suri didn’t approve of him, he would have been history by now,” another source shared. “Katie completely trusts her daughter’s instincts. Suri’s opinion will always come first.”
Following her divorce from Cruise, Holmes has been fiercely protective of Suri. Insiders revealed that this is why she took her time to ensure Yarmosky was the right fit before introducing him to her daughter. “Katie never rushes when it comes to Suri,” the insider explained. “She wanted to be certain that this relationship had real potential before involving Jason in her daughter’s life.”

With the approval from Suri in place, Holmes can now enjoy her romance without worrying about the most important opinion in her life. “Receiving Suri’s approval was a significant milestone,” another source mentioned. “Katie can finally relax knowing that the two people she loves the most genuinely like each other.”
Suri’s endorsement of her mother’s boyfriend came shortly after Page Six reported that the college student legally removed “Cruise” from her name. Suri now goes by Suri Noelle, a name that honors her mother (Noelle is Holmes’ middle name).
Despite this change, Cruise has not publicly responded, and it is unlikely that he will, as he has been absent from Suri’s life for years. Their last public appearance together was at Disney World in July 2012.
A source close to the Top Gun actor shared with Naughty But Nice that Cruise’s reaction to Suri’s name change has been minimal. “Tom has shown almost no reaction. He’s not upset, not making any calls, and certainly not trying to intervene. As far as Tom is concerned, that chapter of his life ended a long time ago.”
Insiders mentioned that Cruise had accepted his estranged relationship with Suri long ago. “Tom is very good at compartmentalizing,” another source explained. “His career has always been his priority. Once he feels something is out of his control, he simply moves forward.”
Another source added, “This wasn’t unexpected. The legal name change just caught up with the reality of the life they have been living.”
