Ryan Gosling has been making waves in the blockbuster scene, from playing Barbie’s boyfriend Ken to a beloved teacher-turned-astronaut in Project Hail Mary. The actor is now gearing up for his next big role as Johnny Blaze, also known as Ghost Rider, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Gosling expressed his excitement about the role, stating that it’s a character he has long desired to portray. The film is scheduled for release in 2028, and the La La Land star has been vocal about his interest in taking on this iconic character.
Interestingly, Gosling’s partner, Eva Mendes, recently celebrated the connection between their past work and his new role as Ghost Rider. Mendes reposted a clip from their movie The Place Beyond the Pines and acknowledged the “beautiful parallel universe connection” between the films.
Notably, Mendes had previously starred in an earlier version of Ghost Rider alongside Nicolas Cage. She played the role of Roxanne “Roxy” Simpson in the 2007 film. Mendes recently shared a clip that highlighted Gosling’s perfect casting as Ghost Rider and playfully added the caption, “Love, Roxy.”

Mendes has always been supportive of Gosling’s career. She previously shared a heartwarming story about Gosling sending her a photo of himself in custom Ken undies, showing her support for his work. More recently, she jokingly expressed jealousy towards Rocky, Gosling’s alien co-star in Project Hail Mary, for spending too much time together.

While Mendes is currently focused on her ventures outside of acting, she continues to support Gosling’s career. The couple’s children play a significant role in Gosling’s decision-making process for selecting roles. He prioritizes projects that won’t affect him negatively and consults with Mendes on what’s best for their family.
